A lot of people have been asking me where the heck my posts are. They aren’t coming as regularly as they were, and whenever I do write it’s mostly been about my hockey game. There are a few reasons for that:
- 1) I’ve been incredibly busy searching for a full-time job in my field after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Production & Programming from Point Park University last May. When I’m not searching for a job (which is a full-time job in itself), I work part-time.
- 2) Most importantly, I have to be in the right mood and have the right mindset to put together a nice entry. No, I don’t mean I need to go psycho in order to write something. I just mean that I have to have enough on my mind to write about. Lately, with the relative calm of being out of school and working only part-time, there hasn’t been a ton of other stuff to write about other than the huge hockey game, which finally made it to YouTube! Search: Sully’s Totally-Not-Winter Classic. The game debuts on Bethel Park Television Friday, July 26 at 4:00pm with an encore presentation at 8:00pm. Channel 32 for Verizon and channel 7 for Comcast.
- 3) I have two computers in my home and one laptop. One of my computers isn’t working right now, and when it does work, WordPress (this blogging service) skips constantly and makes it very difficult to write two words, let alone a full entry. My other computer and my laptop don’t have updated browsers (my fault) which makes it impossible to even pull up WordPress. Therefore, I currently have to go to the local library to write this stuff. Matter or fact, that’s where I am right now.
- And 4) believe it or not, I’m not making a dime off this website. Hopefully one day soon I can make a profit off of my work somehow, but for right now, I’m doing this for free because I love to write and share my thoughts with all of my dedicated readers. Someday, if and when I do get paid for this, there will be a lot more content on here. I feel you all, or most of you at least, enjoy reading what I write and I want to continue to provide you folks with content. I thank each and every one of you for subscribing to my site and checking out my finished products. It means the world.
This is a very important period in my life and I need to focus on what’s most important, finding a full-time job in broadcasting that I love and getting the hell out of my house to live on my own. Both of those tasks are huge and require a lot of time and patience. I don’t want to just take a job somewhere just to say I have a job and bring home a paycheck. I want a job that I look forward to going to every day, and make damn good money at it. It shouldn’t feel like work. As soon as it feels like work, that’s when you’re in trouble. The part-time job I have now (I don’t want to say what it is…privacy, folks…don’t worry, nothing illegal!) doesn’t feel like work and I make nice money doing it. I want that…but I want it in my field after spending 5 years obtaining a degree.
More than anything, I think, I like to write. So maybe something having to do with script writing? Working for a newspaper? Sounds good to me. They say print is dying, and while that may be true, there’s a whole lot of stuff online that is there because of writers. I know for a fact I could contribute a lot to wherever and whoever hires me, whether it be in radio, TV, print, or all of the above. Until then, I’m gunna chill out, take my time, spend time with the special people in my life, and keep searching.
In the meantime, if anyone reading this likes what they see and has anything to offer me, I’m all ears.
